Massey workshop to look at solutions to river pollution

6:33 am on 11 February 2013

Massey University in Palmerston North is on Monday hosting a workshop which will investigate solutions for the pollution of rivers.

Associate Professor Russell Death said the workshop will take a holistic and constructive look at water quality issues in New Zealand.

He said the workshop aims to bring together the different aspects of freshwater management and to look for solutions within each of those, at the same time as integrating them.

Dr Death said the organisers want the workshop to steer away from the traditional shame and blame associated with water quality, and focus on finding scientific solutions.

He said about 100 people from a variety of backgrounds, including farmers, scientists, council officers and even several politicians will be attending.

Water quality experts from New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom will speak at the workshop.
