The Crown research institute AgResearch is one of the winners in the Government's latest round of science research grants.

The Business, Innovation and Employment Ministry has awarded more than $130 million for 47 new research projects, ranging from the biological industries to environment, health, agriculture and horticulture.

AgResearch, which is the fourth biggest recipient across all sectors, will receive $7.5 million over five years for research into technology transfer.

Chairperson Sam Robinson says the project will look at how to get technology out from AgResearch and and put into practice on farms.

He says a lot of technology is available within AgResearch, but it's not being taken up by farmers as readily as it should be.

AgResearch has also got funding for research into more resilient forages.

Other grants include $6 million to Plant and Food Research for PSA resistance in kiwifruit and more than $5 million to the forestry research institute Scion to investigate ways of protecting market access for wood exports.
