A Blenheim man has been charged after a sawn-off shotgun and more than two dozen cannabis plants were found in his house.
Blenheim police searched the South Street property yesterday and discovered an indoor cannabis growing operation.
Twenty-eight healthy cannabis plants were found in a grow tent equipped with lighting and ventilation.
A sawn off shotgun was also found.
Constable Beau Webster said finding the firearm was particularly disturbing, as there was no lawful purpose for having a sawn-off shotgun.
A 29-year-old man has been charged with cultivating cannabis and unlawful possession of a firearm, and will appear in the Blenheim District Court in April.
