Key to meet Obama at White House

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key is to meet US President Barack Obama in Washington DC in two weeks.

Mr Key is making a five day visit to the United States, culminating with talks at the White House on Friday 22 July (Saturday 23 July (NZ time)).

He says New Zealand's relationship with the United States has improved over recent years and he hopes the visit will further strengthen those ties.

Mr Key says he expects the global and US economic outlook, trade and Asia Pacific regional issues will all be discussed.

As well as meeting President Obama, Mr Key will meet a range of US government agencies and address the US Chamber of Commerce.

Before arriving in Washington, he will visit Los Angles and San Francisco.
