The government has announced funding for two new specialist schools, for children with high needs or disabilities.
Education Minister Erica Stanford and Finance Minister Nicola Willis are in Palmerston North on Thursday for the announcement, at Queen Elizabeth Colllege, where one of the schools will open.
The other is in south Auckland.
According to the Specialist Schools website, there are 27 day schools in New Zealand and three residential schools.
