Green Party MP Celia Wade-Brown has announced she will not stand as a candidate in this year's general election.
Wade-Brown first entered parliament in January 2024, following the resignation of Golriz Ghahraman.
Prior to that, she served as Wellington's Mayor for six years, until 2016.
"As one of the oldest MPs in this Parliament, and the oldest woman MP, I am looking forward to fewer midnight debates under anti-democratic urgency," she said in a statement.
Wade-Brown will continue to be the party's spokesperson on democracy and electoral reform, tourism and hospitality, and associate spokesperson for conservation until the election.
"With support from back-benchers across most parties, I hope to progress my Domestic Cat Microchipping members bill which will improve domestic cat welfare and reduce harm to native species."
