Finance Minister Nicola Willis will make a "series of announcements" about supermarket competition this afternoon.
Willis foreshadowed the announcement on Morning Report's political panel on Wednesday.
"Our Cabinet's lined up on them," she said.
It comes against a backdrop of soaring food prices and the government under pressure to ease the cost-of-living.

Mata is reporting the Public Service Commissioner is considering a major shakeup of several government agencies, including the Ministries for Women and Pacific People.
He is refusing to rule out that they would be absorbed into larger ministries and says "all options are on the table".
Willis on Wednesday told Morning Report it was too soon to comment and that no decisions had been made.
She said the Public Service Commissioner has been asked to find efficiencies and she was keeping an open mind about the result.
