With National and Labour MPs having their first caucus meetings on Tuesday after the election, there has been plenty of talk about what's next.
New National Tukituki MP Catherine Wedd said she would have a strong focus on the the horticultural sector after the region suffered "under a Labour government with a lot of regulation, red tape, a lot of bureaucracy".
Napier new MP Katie Nimon said the National Party's election policies were directly shaped by what each candidate heard on the ground during the campaign.
"It means that the policy that we put forward and the work that was being done in the background was well informed regionally at a community level. So we're not going in unaware of what the issues are, what's required, what's being asked for," she said.
Meanwhile, Labour MP Helen White was insisting that she was proud of her electorate result - despite nearly losing to National in one of the safest Labour seats in the country.
White has a 106 vote lead over National's Melissa Lee in Mount Albert, and may yet lose the seat when the special votes come in.
After a two-hour long caucus meeting, Chris Hipkins has confirmed he would stay on as Labour Party leader.
However, it's farewell to former Labour leader and minister of a number of portfolios Andrew Little has announced his retirement.
