Political party leaders were out campaigning across the country on Saturday as heavy rain and strong winds lashed parts of the North Island.
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters spoke after at public meeting at Papakura High School.
Peters has come under fire for some of the party's rhetoric as several Labour and Te Pāti Māori candidates have experienced aggressive incidents with the public in recent days.
Advance voting is due to start on Monday 2 October.
