Election 2023 updates for 13 September

11:34 am on 13 September 2023

National leader Christopher Luxon has been on walkabout Papatoetoe this morning, Chris Hipkins announced Labour's health pledge at Otago Medical School and David Seymour outlined ACT's law and order policy in Henderson.

The Labour Party is promising to deliver more than 300 more doctors a year from 2027 if elected.

ACT leader David Seymour has announced the party's law and order policy saying it would ensure tougher sentences for serious crimes, increase the capacity of the prison system and put victims back in the centre of the justice system.

On Tuesday, the government opened the books in a pre-election update.

After years of high levels of spending under Labour, Treasury is predicting a more moderate slowdown over the next few years, with inflation not expected to ease until late next year.

But National leader Christopher Luxon is rubbishing any suggestion the party's tax cuts will be inflationary or are fiscally irresponsible.
