The National Party is promising to bring back targets for medical wait times and cancer treatment under its health policy released today.

National's targets include shorter stays in emergency departments, faster cancer treatment, improved immunisation, shorter wait times for initial specialist assessments and shorter times for surgery.

In Christchurch, Labour has launched a pledge card outlining nine policies it would introduce if re-elected.

They include: free dental care for those under 30 years old, another $25 a week in Working for Families, paid parental leave for partners, extending free pre-school care to 2-year-olds, more frontline police officers, payments to businesses training apprentices, removing GST from fresh produce, and financial literacy classes in schools.

Meanwhile, the Green Party said it would set a legally binding target to protect 30 percent of the ocean by 2030 and the ACT Party has released its housing policy which includes scrapping the Resource Management Act.
