Opposition not happy with rejection of Landcorp bid

6:39 am on 14 July 2010

Opposition political parties are not happy with the rejection of a bid by Landcorp for the Crafar family farms.

The receivers say they are negotiating with a number of preferred bidders.

A conditional agreement by a company linked to Hong Kong-based Natural Dairy Holdings still stands, although it depends on approval from the on Overseas Investment Office.

Labour leader Phil Goff says Landcorp would have been the best equipped to manage the Crafar farms.

He says Landcorp offered a chance to deal with environmental and animal welfare problems on the farms.

Green Party co-leader Russel Norman says after the Prime Minister's support for Landcorp making a bid, the rejection puts the pressure back on the Government.
