Interpol listing 'publicity stunt' by Japan - Green Party

4:44 pm on 28 June 2010

The Green Party says a request by Japan for Paul Watson of Sea Shepherd to be put on an Interpol watch list is a publicity stunt.

Interpol has issued a 'blue notice' against the head of the anti-whaling organisation.

The notice requires police throughout the world to report on his movements.

Gareth Hughes MP says Japan is trying to get media attention with the notice.

He says if Japan had strong criminal evidence against Mr Watson, Interpol would have issued a warrant for his arrest.
