The two main television news networks have had their Beehive parking privileges removed by the Speaker of the House as punishment for pursuing an MP through Parliament.
Television New Zealand and TV3 have had their parking access terminated indefinitely after camera operators and reporters followed Labour Party MP Chris Carter down a stairwell and along parliamentary corridors.
Mr Carter had been refusing to answer questions about his use of his credit card while a minister in the previous government.
The Speaker, Lockwood Smith, says there was a clear breach of rules by both media outlets, and the suspension of parking access is intended to underline the seriousness of the breach.
Dr Smith says he will consider the matter again at some time in the future.
