Parliament's Speaker Lockwood Smith has clarified the rules for MPs travelling with pre-school children.
An Auditor General's report found some MPs with children under the age of five may have been inadvertently breaking the rules.
That's because they were claiming travel expenses for their children, as had been the practice for many years, when not strictly entitled too.
However, Dr Smith says the rules have been amended to reflect the current practice and travel expenses for children under five, will continue to be reimbursed.
He says the change is cost neutral.
