Associate Social Development Minister Tariana Turia says money diverted from victim advocates in court towards domestic violence among Maori will not be used for an advertising campaign.
Mrs Turia says $2 million has been set aside to help support victims of domestic violence and their children. Some $900,000 is from victim advocates.
Victim Support says the initiative should not come at the expense of helping people through the difficult and stressful court process.
However, Mrs Turia told Morning Report those people will still get support and new money will be set aside for a shorter advertising campaign.
