A total of 538 jobs has been saved since the introduction of the Government's nine-day fortnight scheme.

The Ministry of Social Development says 39 employers have joined the job support scheme and have received support for nearly 2500 employees.

Because of this, 538 jobs have been saved. Implemented in April, it is due to finish in October next year.

Business New Zealand says it has allowed for more flexibility in the workplace.

Phil O'Reilly from Business New Zealand says that while the number of jobs saved isn't high, the scheme has opened up better lines of communication between employers and unions
