Terms of reference to be issued for Foreshore and Seabed review

6:45 am on 4 March 2009

The Government is taking the first step toward reviewing the Foreshore and Seabed Act on Wednesday.

The review is part of a confidence and supply agreement between the Maori and National parties.

Maori Party MP Rahui Katene says the party still wants the legislation repealed, as it's part of the reason the party was set up.

However, she says guarantees need to be put in place to ensure the public has access to beaches.

Terms of reference for the review and who will make up the review panel will be announced at midday on Wednesday.
