Australian govt to bolster commercial developments

4:25 pm on 26 January 2009

The Treasury has been offered a briefing on new plans by the Australian government to spend $4 billion to finance commercial property developments.

Prime Minister John Key says Australian leader Kevin Rudd offered New Zealand a briefing on the fund, which involves major banks, on Sunday night.

Mr Key says there is concern in Australia that foreign banks will not finance large commercial developments, which would impact on the value of commercial property in New Zealand.
