The new Government has confirmed it will disband an expert panel that was to have reviewed the Electoral Finance Act.
The panel was to have also considered if political parties warrant state funding.
A Citizen's Assembly will also be scrapped. They had been previously agreed by the Labour Party and the Green Party on the passage of the Act.
Justice Minister Simon Power says the three members of the panel have been notified they're no longer required.
He says the law was passed without broad support in Parliament and National intends to start afresh. Mr Power says the Government wants to repeal most of the Act.
