Last week, the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) linked Fruzio frozen berries to at least four cases of the illness.

The berries are all from Shandong province, where berry produce has been linked to Hepatitis A cases in Australia.

Labour's food safety spokesperson Damien O'Connor said the ministry should be taking a precautionary approach by recalling all berries sourced from that area.

"Being able to identify one company is obviously something that MPI has done, but I think they're a little slow and perhaps the precautionary approach should be to recall all berries from a certain area of China."

MPI said the investigation was ongoing and there might be further recalls.
