The minimum family tax credit is to increase from April next year.
Revenue Minister Peter Dunne says the family tax credit helps support families moving off the benefit and into paid work.
He says it currently guarantees families a net income of $18,460 a year.
That will rise to $20,540 from next April.
About 3000 families received the tax credit in the last tax year.
