Parliament held its last session on Friday before the 2008 election, with a number of bills being passed under urgency.

Among them was an amendment to the Holidays Act, which ensures shift workers are fully entitled to public holiday entitlements.

Parliament also passed the Public Lending Right for New Zealand Authors Bill.

It allows authors to receive annual payments in recognition that their books are available for use in New Zealand libraries.

Parliament officially dissolves next Friday.
