National still leads poll figures

National continues to poll above 50% in the latest political opinion poll.

A Herald-Digipoll shows it has 51.4% support among decided voters, up 1.4%.

Labour is polling 35.7%, down 0.6%.

The Greens were 4.9% and New Zealand First were 2.8%: both would miss out on Parliament on such figures, if they to fail to win an electorate seat.

The poll of 700 respondents was taken between 15- 24 September, which includes the censure of New Zealand First Party leader Winston Peters over a donation of $100,000 towards legal expenses in 2006 by businessman Owen Glenn.

National Party leader John Key was also attacked during that time over past shareholdings in Tranz Rail.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7%. Undecideds totalled 11.1%.
