Former SFO head criticises restructure plan

A former head of the Serious Fraud Office says the removal of the office's special powers will be a travesty.

David Bradshaw, speaking before Parliament's law and order select committee on Wednesday, said said ministers have been given incorrect information about the proposed changes.

The committee is considering the Serious Fraud Office Bill, which would establish an organised crime agency that absorbed the Serious Fraud Office within the police structure.

Mr Bradshaw said it is misleading to describe the two organisations as having similar powers.
