Nominations for Tamaki Makarau seat open

4:44 pm on 23 May 2014

The Labour Party has reopened nominations for the Tamaki Makarau seat after ruling out former Television New Zealand executive Shane Taurima as a contender.

Last week, Labour made the decision not to allow Mr Taurima to stand after he was criticised in a report into his use of TVNZ resources to campaign for the party.

Labour says it is accepting new nominations until 28 May.

School teacher Will Flavell, the only other nomination, has said he would not be fazed if the party reopened nominations.

The successful candidate will be named on 1 June.
