Dotcom's party logo gets approval

Kim Dotcom's Internet Party and its logo have been officially registered by the Electoral Commission.

The internet businessman launched the political party in March, to support a free and open society, and that includes reviewing New Zealand's security arrangements.

Internet Party chief executive Vikram Kumar says the registration is a big step for the new party, and its members now look ahead to September's election.

United Future had objected to the Internet Party's purple logo, as it was worried it would look too similar to his own party's logo on the ballot.

But the Electoral Commission has determined the logo is acceptable.
