Former television presenter Tamati Coffey has been nominated for selection as a candidate for the Labour Party.
Mr Coffey, who was a roving weather reporter for Television New Zealand's Breakfast programme, has also hosted entertainment shows Dancing with the Stars and New Zealand's Got Talent.
Announcing his political aspirations in a tweet, Mr Coffey said he would like to be Labour's next Rotorua MP.
