Parliamentary Service acknowledges criticism

The acting head of Parliamentary Service says it acknowledges criticisms of its actions in a Privileges Committee report on the handing over of parliamentary records to the David Henry inquiry.

The inquiry was set up to investigate the leaking of the Kitteridge report on spy agency the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) to a Fairfax reporter.

It was given email, phone and swipe card records, in particular between the then minister Peter Dunne and journalist Andrea Vance.

The report was critical of Parliamentary Service for giving the information without authorisation. Acting head David Stevenson said on Wednesday it is now working to make sure there is no repeat of that in the future.
