New High Commissioner to Australia picked

A top Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade official has been named New Zealand's High Commissioner to Australia.

Chris Seed is at present the deputy secretary at the ministry, and will replace Martyn Dunne.

Mr Dunne is returning to Wellington to assume the role of director-general at the Ministry for Primary Industries.

Mr Seed has experience in the Pacific and Australia, including a one-year secondment to the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

He was also deputy secretary at the Defence Ministry from 2004 to 2008.
