Bill to support veterans introduced

The Government has introduced a bill to Parliament that would increase support for current and future veterans.

It announced the $60 million package almost exactly a year ago, following a Law Commission review of veterans' entitlements.

The Veterans' Support Bill will widen the eligibility for support services such as home help and lawn mowing.

Veterans' Affairs Minister Michael Woodhouse says the legislation delivers on National's election promise.

Earlier this year, the Government boosted pensions by 5% for disabled veterans and the partners of veterans who have died.
