Aaron Gilmore has been confirmed as the National Party's new Member of Parliament.
Mr Gilmore, from Wellington, will take the list seat of former Speaker of the House Lockwood Smith, who has resigned to become the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
The MP will be officially sworn in on Tuesday.
