Poor marks for PM from Maori

The Prime Minister's handling of Maori issues gets a poor rating in the latest opinion poll of Maori voters.

The Te Karere DigiPoll canvassed a thousand voters from the Maori and general rolls in the last three weeks of January.

Of those polled, 85% did not think John Key provides good leadership on Maori issues.

Nine percent would give their party vote to National, with 34% supporting the Labour Party and 28% the Maori Party.

Of those who support the Maori Party, 56% were in favour of that party working in a formal relationship with National, and 37% opposed it.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1%.
