Mist prevents transport of gas samples from mine

9:07 am on 27 November 2010

Heavy mist is preventing gas samples from the Pike River coal mine from being flown to a team for analysis.

The bodies of 29 men are still inside the mine.

New South Wales mine rescue team member Seamus says a helicopter used to ferry gas samples back and forth cannot fly due to the weather.

But he says progress is being made in setting up a 'gag' machine, to flush gases in the mine.
