5.7 quake rattles parts of country

An earthquake measuring 5.7 has rattled many parts of New Zealand on Friday morning.

GNS Science says the earthquake occurred at 7am was centred 90km south of Opunake and 200km deep.

Seismologists say the quake was felt widely across the North Island and upper South Island.

There have been no reports of damage.
