Partial strike called for February

9:45 pm on 31 January 2012

Members of the Maritime Union at Ports of Auckland have voted to hold a partial strike for one week in February.

Under the action, which is scheduled for 15 to 22 February, union members will refuse to work on containers moved in and out of the port on trucks run by Conlinxx, a company which has hired contractors instead of existing port workers to drive its vehicles.

Sales and marketing general manager at Ports of Auckland, Craig Sain, says the latest strike action will have minimal affect on operations since the Conlinxx trucks will be serviced by non-union staff as has been done in the past.
