Soldier still in serious condition

The Army says a soldier who collapsed from heat exhausion while taking part in the Special Air Service selection process, is in a serious but improving condition.

The soldier was taken to Middlemore hospital with heat-related injuries last Wednesday.

He was training with a group of other SAS candidates in the Hunua Ranges near Auckland when he collapsed, unconscious.

The Army says his family have asked for privacy. An inquiry will be held.
