Islanders getting impatient

Residents on Motiti Island where debris and oil from the wreck of the Rena are washing up, are losing patience.

The oil is baked onto rocks and the beach is littered with polystyrene from containers along with dead marine life.

A spokesperson for Te Moana A Toi Iwi forum, Willie Te Aho, says the residents are getting more and more frustratied.

He says people are fed up after more than three months of not being able to catch and eat fish from island waters.
