A hunter is missing in difficult terrain in the Mount Aspiring National Park.
Rescue teams from Wanaka spent Sunday night searching for a man from Central Otago who was reported overdue from a trip hunting chamois in the West Matukituki Valley area.
Senior Constable Mike Johnston said the search was focused on the upper Rob Roy Valley and the southern face of Homestead Peak.
Another team is on standby to assist if necessary.
