The body of a man, who went missing five months ago, was discovered in Ashley Gorge in Canterbury, on Christmas Day.
Allan Robert Hill of Loburn, who was 83, was last seen on 6 July when he failed to return from a possum trapping trip.
Police say Mr Hill was found by a tramper who had been involved in the initial search.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
