Police in Queensland investigating the death of New Zealand-born musician Tony Williams say neighbours heard no disturbances at his home.
The lead singer of the R&B band Sex 'n' Chocolate was found dead in his Sunshine Boulevard apartment on the Gold Coast on Christmas Eve.
His body was discovered by a friend and his wife about 2pm on Saturday, after he had failed to turn up at a gig.
Police say Mr Williams had been out with a friend on Friday and believe he died shortly after returning home. They say he had been struck on the head with an object.
Detective Superintendent David Hutchinson said neighbours have told officers they heard nothing.
"At this stage we have statements from a number of witnesses but we have nobody that's actually heard the disturbance at this time."
He said police need help from the public to identify anyone who may have been acting suspiciously in the area.
"Somebody's gone in and somebody's come out at around that early afternoon.
"At this stage we haven't been able to identify anybody that has seen them and we don't know whether the person was sitting there waiting for him."
Mr Hutchinson said Mr Williams was a good man who lived by himself and worked as an orderly at the Gold Coast hospital.
Mr Williams' father was flying to the Gold Coast to arrange for his son's body to be returned to New Zealand.
