Helicopter pilots from around the Far North will fly over Kerikeri airport on Friday afternoon in a last salute to John de Ridder who was killed last week while on firefighting duty.
The Squirrel helicopter Mr De Ridder, known as Prickles, was piloting crashed into the sea off Karikari beach.
His passenger, Department of Conservation ranger William Macrae, was also killed.
Mr Macrae was farewelled at a funeral earlier this week at a Far North marae.
Mr De Ridder's funeral is being held at 3pm on Friday at Kerikeri airport.
