Sign battle now over

9:41 am on 21 November 2011

A battle over a sign for a hillside on the Miramar peninsula has resulted in the original idea, Wellywood, being swept aside in favour of the word Wellington, with the last three letters being blown away by wind.

After almost two years of debate and discussion, a public vote settled on the blown away sign. It got almost 19,000 of the 33,000 votes cast.

The winning concept came from Matt Sellars and Ray McKay from Saatchi & Saatchi advertising agency.
