Auckland University medical students now have access to a mock hospital where they can practise procedures on lifelike mannequins.
The facility includes an emergency room and recovery ward, each fully equipped with hospital electronics and medical equipment.
The mannequins, valued at up to $400,000 each, can talk, breathe, blink, tremble and change colour.
Supervisors can change health indicators, such as heartbeat and blood-pressure, to reflect how well the students are doing.
Health Minister Tony Ryall will officially open the centre on Wednesday.
