Police investigating the crash that killed Allan Hubbard want to speak to a truck driver seen in the area at the time.
The 83-year-old Timaru businessman died in the collision with a four-wheel-drive vehicle near Oamaru on 2 September.
His wife, Jean Hubbard, suffered broken ribs in the crash which happened about 1pm.
Oamaru detective Kevin Kirkman says he hopes the driver of a truck and trailer unit that went past at the time may have some useful information.
Mr Kirkman says the driver did not stop and police do not know if he saw the collision but would like to hear what he knows because he may have had a good view.
He says it will take police a few more weeks to finish their investigation.
A memorial service for Mr Hubbard will be held at the Timaru Sound Shell on 8 October.
