The Desert Road on State Highway 1 re-opened on Tuesday morning after being closed overnight due to snow.
The road, from Rangipo to Waiouru, re-opened at 8am.
MetService said further snow showers were expected on the road on Tuesday morning and would decline in the afternoon.
