The OECD's annual report on education shows New Zealand has significantly increased its share of the international student market in the past decade.
The report says New Zealand had just 0.4% of the world's international student enrolments in 2000, but by 2009 that had risen to 1.9%.
During that time, when the number of international students grew to more than 3,670,000, the United States, Germany and Britain lost market share.
New Zealand is now 10th in the world in terms of the number enrolled, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development said.
The report also shows New Zealand has one of the highest tertiary education graduation rates in the OECD, with 60% of female students and 40% of male students graduating in 2009.
