Three workers have been injured when a stairwell collapsed in a building being renovated in Auckland's central business district.
The incident happened shortly before 11am on Monday in the Mid-City Mall.
A spokesperson for ATL Demolition, Simon Turner, says all three were working on renovating the retail space inside the mall and suffered minor cuts and scrapes.
He says there may have been a structural weakness in the staircase or something may have gone wrong during the demolition.
Mr Turner says the work area has been isolated so a health and safety inspection can be carried out.
The Labour Department says its staff are making initial inquiries before deciding whether to launch a full-scale investigation.
