Police are still searching for signs of two fishermen missing on Lake Arapuni near Putaruru.
Jordan Pooley, 21, of Tokoroa, and James Roberts, 45, from Putaruru set out on 28 August.
The alarm was raised three days later when a dog belonging to one of them returned home alone.
Inspector Steve Bullock says the lake has been lowered by about a metre to allow for a more detailed search.
He says police and volunteers have been searching from the air, in the water and around the lake edge.
They have already recovered two boots and an oilskin vest from the lake thought to belong to the missing men.
The search will continue on Thursday.
