A Wellington man who drowned after falling from a friend's launch in the Marlborough Sounds has been named.
Police say Patrick Gerald Rosson, 49, fell from the back of a launch while it was motoring into Dryden Bay in fine and calm conditions on Saturday.
The boat's skipper attempted to rescue him, but was unsuccessful.
The matter has been referred to the coroner.
